Some whiskeys are made to be refined. This one was made to be remembered.

Selected by Noah Martin & Chadwick Dorton in collaboration with Drammers Club, this single barrel begins its journey the Westward way: aged in our own barrels in Oregon, where warm summers and cool, wet winters push and pull the spirit into something layered and expressive. But instead of heading straight to the bottle, this whiskey took a detour.

It was transferred into a PX Sherry barrel that had already lived a second life, previously used to age a solera-style gold rum from our friends and collaborators at Cotton & Reed in DC. Westward American Single Malt then finished its time in that barrel, soaking up every bit of its character.

The result opens with notes of cinnamon coffee cake, and a zing of salinity on the front palate, then expands into rummy sponge cake and tropical tones that linger. To match the personality in the glass, we created a one-of-a-kind label that swaps the “X” in PX for a skull and crossbones, a nod to the rum-soaked pedigree of the cask.

Bottled at 128.8 proof, this is a very limited single barrel release for those who like their whiskey with a little swagger.
